Equity benchmarks remained moderately under pressure amid consolidation in afternoon, dragged by index heavyweights Reliance Industries (down 1.14 percent), Infosys (down 1.2 percent), ICICI Bank (down 1.05 percent) and ITC (down 0.44 percent).
The broader markets outperformed benchmarks on positive breadth, with the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rising half a percent each.
