The NSE Nifty started off September series on a flat note on Friday but the broader markets outperformed, rising half a percent. The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 25.19 points at 31,755.68 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 6.2 points to 9,924.10.The Indian rupee opened marginally lower at 63.92 per dollar on Friday versus 63.90 Thursday.
