Benchmark indices remained under pressure in afternoon, with the Sensex falling 221.58 points to 34,124.81, weighed by banks and FMCG stocks. The 50-share NSE Nifty fell 78.90 points to 10,475.40 while the Nifty Midcap index was down half a percent.
