Benchmark indices have ended the day on a strong note, as buying was seen in last hour of trade. Metal outperformed the benchmark indices with gains of 1.5 percent. The Sensex was up 289.52 points at 35535.79, while the Nifty was up 90 points at 10806.50. About 1115 shares have advanced, 1537 shares declined, and 163 shares are unchanged. Asian Paints, Tata Steel, HDFC, Larsen and Toubro, ICICI Bank, HPCL, Vedanta, BPCL and Indiabulls Housing were the top gainers on the indices.
