Market Updates : Sensex Dips 100 pts, Nifty Holds 8900

Benchmark indices extended losses on caution ahead of exit polls tomorrow for assembly elections that will end today. The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 114.48 points at 28885.08 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 34.80 points to 8912.10, weighed by auto, banks, oil and technology stocks.

Pace Research Opening Bell - Sensex Opens Flat, Nifty Hovers Around 8950

The Market has opened flat on Wednesday as investors maintained cautious stance ahead of exit polls for assembly elections that will end today with last phase in Uttar Pradesh.
The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 20.72 points at 28978.84 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 3.90 points to 8943. About 467 shares advanced against 239 declining shares on the BSE.

Sensex, Nifty See Profit Taking | Stock Market Update

Benchmark Indices remained moderately under pressure in morning as investors maintained cautious stance ahead of exit polls for assembly elections that will end on March 8.
The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 55.26 points at 28992.93 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 20.80 points to 8942.65.
The market breadth also turned negative as about 1308 shares declined against 982 advancing shares on the BSE.
Metals stocks were under pressure on profit booking. Hindalco fell 3 percent and Tata Steel slipped nearly 2 percent.

Sensex Recouped Losses, Nifty Back Above 8900


NIFTY CLOSE @ 8897.55(-2.20)
SENSEX CLOSE @ 28832.45(-7.34)
BANK NIFTY CLOSE @ 20495.60(-64.45)
Hindalco Industries shares gained nearly 4 percent on value buying. FTSE Russell added Hindalco in its largecap index. 
GAIL, Reliance Industries, Bharti Infratel and Hindalco were the top gainers on both the indices, while HDFC, Asian Paints, BPCL and Bosch were a drag on the indices.

Pace Research Morning Update - Sensex Continues To Downtrend

Equity Indices are likely to open weaker on today. It is continued downtrend amid consolidation as investors awaited assembly elections results due next week, tracking weak global cues. The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 63.46 points at 28776.33 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 20.05 points to 8879.70.


The Indian rupee slipped in the early trade on Friday. It has opened lower by 17 paise at 66.87 per dollar versus previous close of 66.70.

Market Closing Update : Market Extends Losses, Nifty Below 8900

Benchmark indices extended losses in late trade, with the Sensex down 176.97 points at 28807.52. The Nifty broke 8900 level, down 58.70 points at 8887.10, dragged by ITC and banks stocks.

Pace Research Morning Bell : Market Opens at New 52-wk High | Sensex up 150 pts

Equity benchmarks started off session at fresh 52-week high on Thursday, with the Nifty March futures hitting 9000 level, backed by banks, auto, technology and metals stocks.
The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 148.09 points at 29132.58 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 41.90 points at 8987.70. About 673 shares advanced against 106 declining shares on the BSE. Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Wipro, Bajaj Auto, GAIL, Hindalco and Tata Motors (DVR) were early gainers while Dr Reddy's Labs and Coal India were under pressure. The Indian rupee gained by 8 paise at 66.75 per dollar versus 66.83 Wednesday.

Sensex Uptrends, Nifty, Midcap Hold Morning Gains

Sensex continued its uptrend and was up 195.06 points at 28938.38. The Nifty was eyeing 8950-mark and was up 54.80 points at 8934.40. The market breadth was marginally narrowing compared to movements in the morning. About 1,629 shares had advanced, 993 shares fell, while 159 shares remain unchanged. 
Tata Motors fell over a percent ahead of February sales data due later today. Maruti Suzuki was up 0.2 percent after sales in the month gone by grew 11 percent while Eicher Motors fell 0.6 percent as Royal Enfield sales missed analysts' expectations, growing 19 percent year-on-year.

Pace Research India Morning Update : Sensex Rebounds 140 pts, Nifty Above 8900

Equity benchmarks opened higher after weakness in previous session. The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 139.37 points at 28882.69 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 37.85 points at 8917.45. About 719 shares advanced against 164 declining shares on the BSE.
The Indian rupee has opened lower by 9 paise at 66.78 per dollar on Wednesday versus previous close of 66.69.

Sensex Volatile as investors await Q3 GDP data | Tata Tele up 20%

Equity benchmarks remained volatile, with the Nifty hovering around 8900 as investors awaited Q3 GDP data due later today. On the global front, investors awaited US President Donald Trump’s address to the Joint Congress.

The Sensex was up 49.64 points at 28862.52, while the Nifty was up 14.40 points at 8911.10. The market breadth remained health with 1,234 shares having advanced, while 648 shares had declined. About 115 shares remained unchanged.


Tata Teleservices shares rallied 20 percent intraday after Tata Sons has withdrawn its application against DoCoMo in Delhi High Court. Both companies have filed consent terms for perspective settlement in their long-standing dispute.

Closing Bell - Sensex Extends Losses, Nifty Breaks 8900 Amid Consolidation

Equity benchmarks extended losses in last hour of trade, with the Nifty slipping below 8900 level, dragged by telecom, banks and infra stocks. The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 85.05 points at 28807.92 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 46.85 points to 8892.65.
The Indian rupee set a three-month peak and the Thai baht hovered at a four-month high, as investors looked to US President Donald Trump's speech to Congress later this week for fresh catalysts.
The Indian rupee touched a high of 66.645, its strongest level since November 10.


Reliance, Infosys and Aurobindo Pharma were top gainers on the indices, while Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank and Zee Entertainment were the top losers.

Pace Research India Opening Bell - Sensex, Nifty Flat In Opening

The market opened flat with a negative bias on Monday, tracking weakness in Asian peers and fall in FMCG and private banks stocks. The 30-share Sensex was down 59.96 points at 28833.01 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 21.65 points to 8917.85. ITC and Idea Cellular were biggest losers, down more than 2 percent followed by Maruti Suzuki, HDFC Bank, M&M, HDFC, BPCL and Bosch. Reliance Industries continued its run up, up more than 2 percent. GAIL, L&T, ONGC, Infosys, Aurobindo Pharma and Coal India were other gainers. 
The Indian Rupee gained in the early trade today . It has opened higher by 8 paise at 66.75 per dollar against Friday's close of 66.83.

Market Off Day's High Ahead Of Expiry; Bank Nifty Touches 21000

The Market erased some gains in afternoon trade, ahead of expiry of February Nifty derivative contracts. The Sensex was up 122.97 points at 28987.68, while the Nifty rose 40.80 points at 8967.70. The market saw some selling pressure after 1,298 shares advanced, while 1,366 shares declined. About 200 shares were unchanged. 
The Bank Nifty staged a recovery as it reclaimed its 21000-mark and eyed an all-time high. IT stocks Infosys and TCS continued to rule the charts on the Sensex, while Nifty top gainer was Idea Cellular.

Nifty inches towards 8850, Midcap outperforms; JSPL most actives

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices climbed 0.7 percent each on strong breadth. More than two shares advanced for every share falling on bourses.
Idea Cellular shares rallied 3.6 percent as media reports suggested that Vodafone-Idea merger may be announced by end of the month. The rally also spilled over to other telecom stocks – Reliance Communications gained 6 percent and Bharti Airtel rose 2.5 percent.

Jindal Steel was the biggest gainer among midcap stocks and also the most active stock on bourses, up nearly 8 percent.
TCS gained 1.5 percent ahead of board meeting for announcement of share buyback.
